Medical expenses
There's cover for medical expenses incurred overseas if they're the result of an injury or illness that happens during the period of insurance and that requires immediate treatment.
Additional medical-related cover includes:
- Emergency dental treatment
- Ambulance transportation
- Reasonable accommodation and travel cost for your travelling companion to remain with you
- Up to $1, 500 for continued medical, surgical and hospital treatment on your return to New Zealand
- Hospital incidentals (e.g. phone calls and magazines), of up to $75 for every 24-hour period you remain in hospital (for stays of 48 hours or more), up to a maximum of $8, 000.

Amendment or cancellation costs
Loss of pre-paid travel costs
Your insurance covers your pre-paid travel costs (including deposits) if you need to cancel or change your travel arrangements because of unforeseen circumstances beyond your control. You choose the level of cover (noted on your Certificate of Insurance).Your premium will depend on the level of cover you choose. Cover can be chosen for Plan I and Plan C only.

Luggage and travel documents
Loss or damage
If your belongings are lost, stolen or damaged your insurance covers the lesser of either the market value of the items or the cost of repairing or replacing them. Plan I: Cover up to $25, 000 per adult. Plan D: Cover up to $5, 000 per adult.
Lost travel documents or passports
Your policy provides cover for travel documents including passports lost or stolen during your travel. You must report the loss or theft within 24 hours of the loss. Plan I: Cover up to $25, 000 per adult. Plan D: Cover up to $5, 000 per adult. Plan C: No cover.

Delayed luggage allowance
You can claim up to $500 to purchase essential items such as a toothbrush and clothes if your bags are delayed for more than 24 hours. This will increase by $500 if you still haven't received your luggage after 48 hours and will increase by a further $500 if you still haven't received your luggage after 72 hours. Cover under Plan I only.

Money
There's cover for up to $500 cash which is lost or stolen from your person. You must report the loss or theft within 24 hours of the loss. Cover under Plan I only.

Rental car
There's cover for any rental car insurance excess you become liable to pay as a result of damage to or theft of a rental car. Plan I: Cover up to $10, 000 per adult. Plan D: Cover up to $4, 000 per adult. Plan C: No cover.

Travel delay
Missed connection (Travel delay)
Your policy provides cover for additional transport expenses if you miss a connection which is beyond your control and you're travelling to a special event or you need to catch up with your planned itinerary.
Early return (Additional expenses)
There's cover for additional travel costs if you have to return to New Zealand early because of the unexpected death or sudden life-threatening injury or illness of your relative or business partner.
There's also cover for the additional travel costs to return home early if your home in New Zealand is destroyed by fire, earthquake or flood while you're away.

Disability or Accidental death
If you're disabled or die as a result of suffering an injury caused solely and directly by violent, accidental, visible and external means during your travel, you're eligible for the disability and/or accidental death benefit. A combined maximum limit applies.

Personal Liability
There's cover for your personal legal liability to pay compensation to someone if, during your travel, your negligent act unintentionally causes death or injury to someone else or damages their property.
